SMM Newspapers and other Media

With few exceptions, refer to e.g. Nigerian newspapers and other media organisations exactly as they refer to themselves. Thus, The Abuja Inquirer, The Abuja Voice, but Abuja Mirror. 

Do not use all capitals (THISDAY) or such as SaharaReporters, BusinessDay, even where this is the organisation's preferred method.

Note: NAN (News Agency of Nigeria) does not need 'the', and can be used as a singular; '..., NAN reports.'

Foreign English-language newspapers can be used with 'the' (no capital) whatever the masthead says: the Times, the Daily Mail, the New York Times, the Washington Post, the BBC (but CNN, see Abbreviations).

To distinguish foreign newspapers from Nigerian ones with the same name: The Sun, the Sun (UK).
