Understanding sound quality in videos affect how viewers perceive and enjoy the content.Several factors contribute to sound quality, and knowing more about them can help you achieve good audio in your videos.

Key points about sound quality:

Clarity:

  • What it is: Sound should be clear so that viewers can easily understand speech and sound.

Sound Balance:

  • What it is: A balance between different aspects of sound like music, voice, and effects. Nothing should be too loud or too quiet.

Minimal Noise:

  • What it is: Avoid unnecessary noises in recordings, such as wind or household sounds.

Dynamics:

  • What it is: The difference between the quietest and loudest sound in a recording, allowing for emotional expression.

Absence of Echo and Reverberation:

  • What it is: Avoiding the reflection of sound off surfaces, which can degrade sound quality.

License and Legality:

  • What it is: Using audio materials you have the right to use, adhering to copyright and licensing laws.

In Adobe Premiere Pro

In Adobe Premiere Pro, you can use built-in tools for audio processing. To reduce excessively low frequencies and enhance sound quality, you'll need to use filters and effects. Here are the steps you can take in Adobe Premiere Pro:

  • Open the "Audio Effects" tab:

    • In the top menu, choose "Window" and select "Audio Effects."

  • Find filtering effects:

    • In the "Audio Effects" panel, look for filtering effects. For example, you can use "Parametric Equalizer" or "Graphic Equalizer."

  • Add the effect to the audio track:

    • Drag the selected effect onto the audio track you want to edit.

  • Adjust the parameters:

    • After adding the effect, open the "Effect Controls" panel to adjust the equalizer parameters. Typically, you'll be able to adjust frequencies and sound levels.

  • Reduce excessively low frequencies:

    • Lower the levels for frequencies you want to reduce. Excessively low frequencies may be labeled as "Low" or within the bass range.

  • Listen to the changes:

    • Listen to the results by pressing the playback button to check how the filtering affects the sound.

  • Experiment and fine-tune:

    • Experiment with different frequencies and levels until you achieve the desired effect.

  • Rendering and verification:

    • After making changes, it's important to render the audio track to reflect the changes in the final video.

The Role of Music

Frame Dynamics:

Sync music with frame dynamics, use different tracks for various video parts, and control volume balance.

Track Length:

Change tracks according to content, adapt to video mood, and maintain balance with other audio elements.

Increasing Content Dynamics:

Use music to accentuate key moments, create mood and smooth transitions between
scenes.

Music Editing in Video:

Place music strategically at the beginning, middle, and end. Pay attention to transitions and volume.

Proper Music Selection:

Choose the right track using platforms like Envato and Epidemic Sound. Understand licenses and limitations.

Envato

The Envato platform offers a wide selection of music and sound effects. Regarding music, you can choose the genre and mood. I recommend starting with the genre, as it will immediately narrow down the search path to the specific composition you need. If you're not familiar with the genre, then it's worth listening to 3-4 compositions to understand the main characteristics that unite them.

For YouTube and Facebook videos, it's better to use instrumental music for dialogue or narration clearance. You can use vocals for graphic intros to present your show.

This tab will specifically help you find music that is perfect for your editing: dynamic music - so you can choose a fast tempo, a measured story - better suited for dialogues or interviews.

Sound effects - there is also a database of sound effects, and they are all grouped by specific sound themes, making it easier to search for a query.

Epidemic Sound

The Epidemic Sound platform offers a wide selection of music and sound effects. Regarding music, you can choose the genre and mood. I recommend starting with the genre, as it will immediately narrow down the search path to the specific composition you need. If you're not familiar with the genre, then it's worth listening to 3-4 compositions to understand the main characteristics that unite them.

The Epidemic Sound platform already has a folder with certain compositions that suit the theme of your video, making searches much easier. When listening to these collections, you can truly be confident that they are selected according to YouTube trends.

Sound effects - there is also a database of sound effects, and they are all grouped by specific sound themes, making it easier to search for a query.

Sound effects

Underlining Key Moments:

Utilize sound effects to underscore important moments in your video. Whether it's the creaking of a door, approaching footsteps, or a sudden burst of music, these effects can heighten suspense or draw attention to significant events.

Creating Atmosphere:

Set the mood and atmosphere by incorporating ambient sound effects. Whether it's the chirping of birds, rustling of leaves, or city sounds, these effects can transport the audience into different environments.

Conveying Emotions:

Use sound effects to convey emotions that may be challenging to express visually. The sound of laughter, crying, or a deep breath can add a layer of emotional depth to your video.
